Welcome!
My name is Kerrie Albright and I am teaching 8th grade Science for the 2015-2016 school year. I will be entering my 4th year of teaching and my 3rd at Moore Square AIG/GT Magnet Middle School. I moved here 3 years ago with my then fiancé from Columbus, Ohio… GO BUCKS!!! I did 4 out of a 5-year undergrad at Ohio University in Civil Engineering. It was at that time that I knew something was missing and so I left and found my passion in teaching. I completed my degree at Ohio Dominican University in Middle Childhood Education with a concentration in Math and Science.
During the 2013-2014 school year I completed my AIG Licensure at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. This was a great experience that showed me how to differentiate my classroom to make sure all my students needs are being met. Additionally, it helped me insure my students are gaining a deeper level of understanding.
I was very excited and honored to be chosen as a Kenan Fellow for the 2014-2015 class. Over the summer I worked at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Science and worked with Dr. Terry "Bucky" Gates, a paleontologist at the Museum. I created 4 lessons around shark teeth and will be implementing them in all my 8th Grade Science classes as well as my Animal Science electives. If you would like to see more please click here to learn more about my fellowship.
I can honestly say that I absolutely LOVE my job and am so happy I get to work with students every day. I am excited to begin this school year and teach many of the same students I taught when they were in 6th grade. Please do not hesitate to contact me throughout the school year with any comments, questions, or concerns. This will be an amazing school year!
